Captan desde el espacio los cambios de la Tierra que dejó el terremoto de Japón
Tras el terremoto de nueve grados en la escala de Richter que azotó Japón a principios de marzo, un equipo de investigadores del laboratorio de la NASA ha medido la deformación de la Tierra comparando imágenes del satélite Envista, de la Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA).
Los expertos han comparado los datos del radar que lleva a bordo, captados los días 19 de febrero y 21 de marzo, y han detectado un desplazamiento del terreno de 25 metros en dirección este y el hundimiento de la costa oriental.
Estos primeros resultados, que cubren una franja de 800 km sobre Sendai y Tokio, también demuestran que la deformación del terreno se extiende a gran distancia del epicentro del seísmo, marcado con una estrella roja en la imagen, en el océano Pacífico.
