El FMI ya debate quién será el sucesor de Strauss-Kahn
Los países emergentes vienen protestando en el seno de FMI porque quieren más voz y más voto.
No lograron, sin embargo, presentar conjuntamente un candidato que sea viable para reemplazar al director gerente del FMI, Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
El único aspirante al timón del FMI de un país emergente, el presidente del Banco Central mexicano, Agustín Cartens, reconoció que son “muy altas las posibilidades” de que su principal rival, la ministra de economía francesa Christine Lagarde, se quede con el cargo.
Durante la presentación dijo que “no tiene sentido” que una europea tome las riendas del Fondo justo cuando la crisis en Europa está que arde.
“Puede haber conflicto de interés”, advirtió y afirmó que “el desempeño de Europa previniendo la crisis no ha sido muy bueno” y que “los economistas de los países emergentes tenemos más experiencia en resolver crisis”.
