La Cámara de Representantes de Estados Unidos aprobó la iniciativa de ley diseñada para impedir una suspensión de pagos de deuda del gobierno. La medida también fija un curso para reducir el déficit federal en el futuro.
La iniciativa aumentará el tope de deuda en más de dos billones de dólares y recortará el gasto federal por una cantidad similar a lo largo de la próxima década.
Se formaría también un comité legislativo especial para considerar cambios fiscales y a los programas de beneficios.
