Iniciaron las actividades por la Semana Mundial de la Lactancia Materna
Del 1 al 7 de agosto de cada año se celebra en todo el mundo la Semana Mundial de la Lactancia Materna (SMLM) en la que se promueven los beneficios de dar leche materna a los bebés y niños durante los primeros años de vida. El lema de este año es el ‘Apoyo a las madres que amamantan: ¡cercano, continuo y oportuno!’ y tanto el hospital Justo José de Urquiza, a través del área de Lactancia Materno Infantil, como los centros de atención primaria de la salud, se suman a los festejos organizando una serie de actividades.
Esta mañana, el salón Ateneo del hospital de zona fue sede de la apertura de las actividades de la SMLM de las que participaron el equipo de salud de los centros de salud provinciales y municipales,las autoridades y jefes de los servicios de Neonatología y Pediatría del hospital Urquiza, y los representantes de la Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos (UNER), quienes trabajarán de forma conjunta para fomentar esta alimentación natural y nutritiva que proporciona múltiples beneficios para la salud integral de madres y niños.
Respecto a la importancia que tiene la leche materna, la licenciada Delia Bruni, coordinadora del área de Lactancia Materno Infantil del hospital Urquiza, dijo que “la lactancia materna es una alimentación natural, sana y que también es un derecho que tiene el recién nacido, o el niño, de ser amamantado. La leche materna tiene los nutrientes necesarios, las calorías y las vitaminas, que protegen y que le dan inmunidad a ese recién nacido. Es como una vacuna fundamental para el crecimiento y el desarrollo del niño”.
Bruni también indicó que “el lema de este año es el apoyo a las madres que amamantan, pero ¿cómo tiene que ser ese apoyo? Tiene que ser cercano, continuo y oportuno. Todos los años tenemos un lema distinto y estos lemas se van relacionando en función de cómo va evolucionando la promoción de estas campañas de difusión que hacemos para que cada vez tengamos más bebés amamantados hasta los seis meses exclusivamente. ¿Qué significa lactancia exclusiva? Significa que el bebé no tiene que tomar agua ni jugos y tampoco té, porque son perjudiciales para la parte intestinal del bebé porque no tiene todos los órganos maduros. Entonces, todas esas cosas las tiene que tomar la mamá y el bebé sólo tiene que tomar teta. La primera leche que sale es una leche que tiene mucho contenido en agua, que es la que calma la sed del bebé, por eso el bebé no necesita tomar agua. Si ese bebé sigue mamando de esa teta, va a sacar de esa leche materna las grasas y los nutrientes que necesita. Por eso decimos que los seis primeros meses son de lactancia exclusiva y después es lactancia más los alimentos indicados por el pediatra”.
Consultada sobre hasta cuándo es recomendable la lactancia materna, la licenciada expresó: “La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) la indica hasta los dos años, pero como promotora de lactancia y como madre, digo que la lactancia se puede prolongar hasta que la mamá y el bebé decidan separarse. El lazo entre ambos es un vínculo muy fuerte, una comunicación que no la encontramos en nadie y un momento de placer que se disfruta mutuamente. Muchas madres me plantean que, al dejar de dar la teta, sienten que pierden a su bebé y esa separación les produce mucha angustia, pero tienen que entender que este proceso es normal y que por más que dejen de amamantar ese vínculo no se pierde. Por eso digo que tanto la mamá como el bebé van a ser los que decidan cuando es el momento oportuno para dejar la lactancia materna”.
En cuanto a las actividades que comenzaron hoy y se extenderán hasta el miércoles 7 de agosto, la profesional dijo: “Iniciamos la Semana de la Lactancia agasajando a las mamás que están internadas en la sala de Maternidad (Polivalente B), con un desayuno de chocolate caliente y facturas, e invitamos a las madres que tienen a sus hijos internados en los servicios de Pediatría y Neonatología para compartir un taller y mirar videos sobre el proceso de lactancia materna”.
Asimismo, agregó que “también vamos a capacitar al personal de Enfermería del hospital para ver de qué manera abordar las dificultades que se presentan en el proceso de lactancia, sobre todo las que aparecen en la técnica de amamantar. La idea es asesorar al personal, que es el que está permanentemente en relación con las madres, para que puedan ayudarlas en los cuidados para una mejor lactancia. Y para el miércoles 7, a las 10, tenemos pensado cerrar la semana invitando a todas las madres al salón Ateneo del hospital para tomar un chocolate caliente, compartir experiencias sobre lactancia materna, y disfrutar de una obra de teatro junto a la presencia de payasos”.
Por otro lado, la especialista también señaló la importancia del trabajo en conjunto entre los centros de atención primaria de la salud (CAPS) y el hospital Urquiza para promover los beneficios de la lactancia.
“Ya desde el año pasado comencé a trabajar con los centros de salud municipales y este año, a través de un proyecto de extensión universitaria de la Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos (UNER), que se llama “Educación continua en lactancia materna”, entre el Hospital Urquiza y la Secretaría de Salud Municipal logramos un acuerdo para trabajar también con los centros de salud provinciales, a modo de que entre el hospital y los centros de salud podamos realizar distintas actividades en conjunto para promocionar la lactancia materna en los distintos ámbitos de la comunidad”.
Para finalizar, Bruni dijo que las madres que tengan dudas o requieran asesoramiento en lactancia materna pueden acercarse al servicio de Polivalente B del hospital de zona para dialogar con algún profesional.
“Por cualquier dificultad o por cualquier duda, las mamás pueden dirigirse de lunes a viernes a la sala de Maternidad del hospital Urquiza, en el horario de 6 a 14. Yo recibo a las mamás que están internadas en el hospital y a todas las mamás que puedan llegar a tener sus hijos en otras instituciones. Lo que les sugiero es que no vengan con el tiempo justo porque tengan que hacer otras actividades, porque se necesita tiempo para brindarle un asesoramiento adecuado”.
