La Liga Arabe impuso duras sanciones económicas a Siria
Los ministros de Exteriores de la Liga Arabe acordaron sanciones económicas sin precedentes contra Siria, luego de fracasar en sus intentos para poner fin a meses de violencia, en una jornada en la cual murieron al menos 32 civiles en acciones del ejército y las fuerzas de seguridad.
La resolución prohibe los viajes de altos responsables sirios a otros países árabes y los vuelos de las aerolíneas sirias, excepto mercancías. Impide cualquier transacción comercial y gubernamental a través de los bancos centrales árabes.
Y estipula el boqueo de los fondos financieros del gobierno y los responsables sirios y la suspensión de la financiación de cualquier proyecto en territorio sirio por parte de los países árabes.
Las sanciones fueron propuestas el sábado por los ministros de Economía de la organización y fueron adoptadas ayer en la reunión de cancilleres árabes en El Cairo.
Las medidas sobre las transacciones comerciales y cuentas bancarias entrarán en vigor “inmediatamente” , precisó el primer ministro qatarí Hamad, cuyo país preside un comité ministerial árabe sobre Siria.
La entrada en vigor de las demás sanciones será fijada la próxima semana.
