La Unión Europea convoca a una cumbre extraordinaria para el 11 de marzo
La angustiante situación en Libia tendrá que esperar. Hasta el 11 de marzo los jefes de Estado y de Gobierno de la Unión Europea (UE) no se reunirán.
Recién dentro de 10 días Bruselas será sede de una cumbre extraordinaria para tratar la situación en ese país y el norte de África.
En principio, el encuentro entre los Veintisiete se celebrará justo antes de la cumbre de los países del euro ya prevista para esa misma fecha en la capital belga con el fin de tratar la crisis de la deuda del bloque.
Según fuentes de la UE, la Alta Representante de Política Exterior, Catherine Ashton, será la encargada de preparar la reunión, que fue solicitada en primer lugar por el presidente francés, Nicolás Sarkozy.
El llamamiento de París fue apoyado por varios países europeos, entre ellos el Reino Unido, y ha sido finalmente atendido por el presidente del Consejo Europeo, Herman Van Rompuy, que encabezará la cumbre.
