Merkel quiere prohibir el partido neonazi, luego de una serie de asesinatos a inmigrantes
La canciller de Alemania, Angela Merkel, impulsa la prohibición del ultraderechista Partido Nacional Democrático (NPD), tras conocerse el fin de semana una serie asesinatos de inmigrantes cometidos por neonazis, hecho que generó una ola de críticas a las fuerzas de seguridad del país.
La cúpula de la conservadora Unión Cristianodemócrata (CDU), encabezada por Merkel, presentó ante el congreso del partido en la ciudad de Leipzig una moción destinada a reanimar el proceso de ilegalización del NPD iniciado en 2000 y que en su momento fue rechazado por el Tribunal Constitucional.
El grupo neonazi, llamado Nacional Socialista Clandestina, era conocido para el servicio de inteligencia de la región de Turingia, pero su seguimiento no se profundizó porque las autoridades consideraron que no constituía un peligro.
Sin embargo, la organización saltó a las tapas de los diarios al conocerse este fin de semana que entre los años 2000 y 2007 mató al menos a nueve inmigrantes -ocho turcos y un griego- y a un agente de policía y asaltó varios bancos.
