Multan a Google con US$ 500 millones por avisos de medicamentos ilegales en Estados Unidos
La empresa de Internet Google pagará US$ 500 millones por permitir que farmacéuticas canadienses colocaran anuncios en su programa AdWords, orientado a consumidores de EE.UU., lo que propició la importación ilegal de medicamentos, informó el Departamento de Justicia.
La multa, una de las mayores en EE.UU., representa la suma de los ingresos brutos percibidos por Google por divulgar esos anuncios y los ingresos que obtuvieron las farmacias de ventas procedentes de Estados Unidos, indicó el fiscal federal del estado de Rhode Island
El envío de medicamentos a EE.UU. desde farmacias en el exterior viola, en general, la Ley Federal de Alimentos, Medicamentos y Cosméticos. En el caso de medicamentos con receta controlada se viola también la ley de Sustancias Controladas.
